ETICKETS is fine but there is some problem with tatkl especially in etickets ..my experience till date has been that whenever one select the TATKAL option and tries to book an eticket..it always says "NOT AVAILABLE" in the availability tag..please try it at your own convenience for any train, any class any dates combination.. you will see that you can never book a tatkal e ticket on the IRCTC site
Hello Manu,
There is no problem with TATKAL e-ticket. Tatkal tickets must be booked between train originating station and final destination station and must pay the full fare between these stations.
If you any of these changes TATKAL shows 'NOT AVAILABLE' If you take the train between one of intermediate stations, you have to select it as the boarding staion while booking. This boarding station option is shown only after you fill in the main passenger list form and move to the next screen.
Whether you travel to the final destination of the train or not, you will have a valid reservation upto that final station. All these things make TATKAL an expensive option, but you have a chance to buy ticket at the last moment. It is ridiculously expensive for 3-A/C tatkal.
You can search about trains, availability, fare and all other features on a new site which is not developed by Indian Railways, but a third party, you may know the name, that is http://www.indiantrains.org/
Visit this site and experience the new ways to find the trains and their availability.
