1.How do I apply for student concession?
	The Student Concession tickets are permitted only in Sleeper Class (SL) and 2nd Sitting (2S)I tickets. Only I-tickets can be exchanged with student concession by presenting the I-ticket and the valid student concession order to the nearest Railway Reservation Office By going to the reservation office along with his journey cum reservation ticket and a request for exchanging the same with the student concession. He will surrender his original fully paid ticket and a student concession ticket with the revised fare (with same seat/berth number status) shall be issued to him. The difference of fare (paid and payable) less the clerk age charge of Rs. 20/- shall be refunded and shall be credited to his account electronically on the next day by IRCTC on receipt of refund file from the Railways.

	16.While booking, the amount was debited but ticket not booked. What should I do?
	A. After pressing the “Buy” button, if the “Ticket reservation confirmation page” is not displayed on your monitor due to power failure or Internet link /communication failure, please click the “Booked Tickets” menu on the left side of the screen.This page will display these cases highlighted along with succesfull booking details. Customer can exercise the ENQUIRY option available to know the status of the ticket and if ticket not booked can retry booking by clicking the "Book my ticket" button.You are also advised to check your e-mail or contact IRCTC, if necessary.IRCTC will not be responsible for any loss or damage or inconvenience to the customer who book his same ticket more than once as logging in with different userid or by any other means. If you do not see the desired transaction on this list, it means that the ticket has not been booked. The amount debited would be credited back to you in full without levying any charges. You may retry the transaction for booking your ticket. If you face this problem very often please let us know immediately.

6.When I can book a tatkal I-ticket and e-ticket ?
A. Tatkal tickets can be booked upto five days in advance.
For the opening day, Tatkal i-Ticket & e-ticket can be booked only from 8.00 am onwards. For Tatkal booking, opening day means fifth day from date of journey. e.g.- today is 1st January, 6th January will be the opening day. i.e For I-tickets booking can be done for the for 4th,5th & 6th January, & for e-tickets booking can be done for 1st,2nd,3rd,4th & 5th ,and 6th January. Internet booking starts from 5 AM onwards( except for the opening day)for which the booking starts from 8 A.M. onwards only.

A. Tatkal tickets can be booked only from source station to destination station and from remote station having Tatkal quota to destination with boarding facility from intermediate station. A.A flat refund of 25% of total fare charged on ticket,excluding Tatkal Charges is granted on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal tickets, which are cancelled up to 24 hrs. before the schedule departure of train. No refund on confirmed Tatkal tickets when cancelled within 24 hrs.of the schedule departure of train. IRCTCmobile is a unique secure transaction solution residing on your mobile phone, which allows you to book railway tickets from anywhere and anytime. The IRCTCmobile has an attractive and user-friendly interface to facilitate easy navigation and has capability to book tickets in real time and store tickets details, making it an ideal ticketing solution.

02. How does the railway ticketing through IRCTCmobile work?

Once you enter your mobile number in the IRCTC web page, you will be automatically registered, post which you can download and install IRCTCmobile on your java-enabled mobile phone. You can start booking railway tickets through your IRCTCmobile and pay through the credit card/ cash card.

03. What are the pre-requisites for using the IRCTCmobile?

The pre-requisites for using the IRCTCmobile are:

You need to be a IRCTC user
Have a Java enabled mobile phone or a smart phone
Have GPRS service activated on your mobile phone
Have a credit card/cash card

Note: This service is not available for CDMA mobile users.

04. How do I know if my mobile is Java enabled?

To check if your phone is Java enabled:

Post registration,user receives a service SMS (also called as WAP SMS) from IRCTC containing the link

16. How do I download IRCTCmobile?

In FAQ 15, post registration, user receives a service SMS (WAP SMS) containing a link:

User accepts the WAP SMS by selecting it or by accepting it or by clicking the link in the WAP SMS
This will result in downloading of the IRCTCmobile application
The application will prompt the user to ‘install’
User selects ‘Yes’ to install the application on to the mobile phone
Once installed, IRCTCmobile icon will appear on the phone menu/games/application/my own folders.

17. How do I activate the IRCTCmobile?

Please follow the steps given below to activate IRCTCmobile on your mobile phone:

Select the IRCTCmobile icon on your mobile phone
Set a PIN for IRCTCmobile. This PIN will be used for your future logins
IRCTCmobile will connect to the IRCTC’s back end server and initiate the activation process
IRCTCmobile will download the necessary information by synchronizing with the IRCTC's backend server.
The IRCTCmobile main menu is now activated on the phone screen

18. Can I change my IRCTCmobile PIN?

Yes. IRCTCmobile provides you an option to change your PIN.

19. How can I change my IRCTCmobile PIN?

The procedure for changing your IRCTCmobile PIN is:

Login to IRCTCmobile
Go to options and select ‘Change PIN’
Enter old PIN, followed by the new PIN and select OK to change PIN.
A message is displayed once the PIN is changed successfully
Select ‘Back’ to return to the main screen

20. What if I forget my IRCTCmobile PIN?

In case you forget your PIN, on 3 consecutive incorrect PIN entries the application will get locked. To unlock refer FAQ 21.

21. What if the IRCTCmobile gets locked?

IRCTCmobile gets locked on three successive incorrect PIN entries. 'Your IRCTCmobile is locked’ message will be displayed. Follow the procedure mentioned below:

Call the IRCTC customer care and request for unlocking the IRCTCmobile
Provide the required information for verification of identity
You would receive an unlocking code from the IRCTC customer care
Select ‘Unlock’ on the IRCTCmobile
Enter Unlocking code and set new PIN for IRCTCmobile
IRCTCmobile connects to the server to unlock IRCTCmobile
IRCTCmobile is unlocked successfully. Press ‘Ok’ to return to the main menu

22. How do I navigate through IRCTCmobile?

IRCTCmobile currently consists of 4 icons on the main screen:

25. Will my credit card information in the IRCTCmobile be safe?

The credit card information in the IRCTCmobile is transmitted in an 128 bit encrypted format that can’t be retrieved by anyone.

27. How much will I be charged per transaction done through IRCTCmobile?

The transaction charges for railway ticketing will be the same as in the case of IRCTC. However, the mobile operator will additionally charge for the GPRS as per the subscribed GPRS plan.

28. Are transactions made through the IRCTCmobile secure?

Transactions made through the IRCTCmobile are completely secure. IRCTCmobile has built in features at every level that make it nearly impossible for anyone to break through the security net. The transmitted data is encrypted, and even the data stored on the mobile is in an encrypted format.

IRCTCmobile architecture addresses the following security requirements:

Privacy - Information sent from one party to the other is completely confidential
Integrity - Information sent from one party to the other cannot be altered without detection
Authentication - Verification of both party’s identities
Non-repudiation - All messages between both parties are signed, ensuring an auditable record of the transaction.

29. What is IRCTC login and password?

You need to register with IRCTC to get a IRCTC login and password. You can register through IRCTCmobile (This may not be available on all mobile handsets) or by visiting www.irctc.co.in. By default the mobile will have Guest Login and password for IRCTC. With this login and password you will be able to do everything related to IRCTC except ticket booking through your mobile. For booking, you need to register with IRCTC and login to IRCTCmobile with your IRCTC login ID and password.

30. How can I add passengers to the passenger list stored on the mobile?

On high-end phones, you can add any number of passengers to the 'Passenger List'. On low-end phones due to lack of sufficient memory you can add a limited number of passengers.

36. Can I edit the details of the passenger while booking?

Yes, the steps to edit the passenger while booking are as follows:

Select the ‘Reservation’ icon in IRCTCmobile & select the train for travel.
Add the required passengers from the list
Select ‘Edit’ from ‘Options’ to edit any of the selected passengers
Enter the passenger details as requested in the screen and Select ‘Add’ in Options
Passenger name will appear in the list

37. How do I book my ticket using the IRCTCmobile?

To book your ticket using IRCTCmobile:

Login to IRCTCmobile on your mobile phone and Select ‘Booking’ a) Enter first three characters of city or city code in the ‘From’ and ‘To’ field b) Select ‘Next’ from the ‘Option’.
Confirm city by selecting ‘From’ and ‘To’ for the desired city and Selects ‘Next’
Select the ‘Class’ from ‘Option’

38. How far in advance can the ticket be booked?

Through IRCTCmobile, you can book a train up to 90 days in advance and 2-3 clear days in advance excluding the date of journey.

39. Can I make a reservation for anyone?

Yes, you can book through IRCTCmobile for anyone.

40. Can I book for all destinations through IRCTCmobile?

You can book I-tickets on IRCTCmobile for all the destinations.

41. What if I do not receive an I-ticket through the courier?

If you fail to receive I-ticket in 2-3 clear days, you can contact IRCTC call center and enquire about the status giving relevant ticket details. You can also mail at care@irctc.co.in. Alternatively you can track you ticket by entering the PNR number in the 'Track your ticket' page provided on the irctc.co.in website, from the next day of booking the ticket. You can contact your local Overnite Express courier office, produce proof of identity along with transaction ID and PNR number and collect your ticket.

42. How many passengers in a ticket can I book using the IRCTCmobile?

You can book a maximum of 6 seats at a time (adults and children included) using the IRCTCmobile.

43. How many I-tickets can I store on my mobile?

The number of I-tickets that can be stored on the mobile depends on the phone’s memory.

44. How do I view my stored I-tickets on the IRCTCmobile?

The procedure for viewing an I-ticket on IRCTCmobile is:

Open IRCTCmobile with the appropriate PIN
Select ‘My Tickets’ icon
Select from 'last booked ticket' or 'Fetch all tickets'
You will be able to view all the ticket details like: PNR, Ticket no., passenger name, fare details, train details etc

45. What if I just want to obtain train schedules without making a reservation??

To obtain only the train schedules, simply follow the steps of FAQ- 37

46. Can I cancel or get the refund of the ticket booked through the IRCTCmobile?

The cancellation of the ticket can’t be done from the IRCTCmobile. For cancellation you have to follow normal procedure of cancellation over the counter. The refund money will be credited back electronically to the same credit/cash card which has been used for booking tickets. The refund may take around 1-3 days from the date of cancellation.

47. What if I lose my mobile?

If you loose your mobile:

Call the customer IRCTC care centre
Provide details for verification of identity
Request for blocking the IRCTCmobile

48. What if I change my mobile handset or change my SIM cardof my mobile?

If you buy a new handset but use your old SIM (Old Mobile No.), follow the registration and download procedure as mentioned in FAQ 16 and FAQ 17. Please ensure that you have deleted the IRCTCmobile application in the old handset.

If you change the SIM, please delete/remove your old IRCTCmobile application form the phone and follow steps in FAQ 16 and FAQ 17.

49. If I change my handset will my I-tickets stored on my old handset be available on my new handset?

Yes, in case of any change in handset after following the ‘Change Device’ procedure (for details refer F.A.Q 48) all the details will be available in the IRCTCmobile on the new phone.

50. Can anyone else use my IRCTCmobile?

No. A PIN protects IRCTCmobile, which ensures that only an authorized user accesses IRCTCmobile. After 3 consecutive wrong inputs of the PIN, the IRCTCmobile gets locked. Please do not share your pin with anyone for security reasons.

51. Why should I synchronize IRCTCmobile?

Synchronizing will keep your IRCTCmobile updated with the latest information. To synchronize your IRCTCmobile, press Sync in Options on the main screen of your IRCTCmobile. A message will be displayed, with summary of downloaded items.

52. How do I synchronize the IRCTCmobile?

The procedure for synchronizing the IRCTCmobile is:

Select the ‘Sync’ option in the main screen of your IRCTCmobile
The synchronization process will be initiated
Summary of the uploaded or downloaded items will be displayed on the phone screen
Select ‘OK’ to return to the main screen

53. What if the GPRS connection breaks while booking the ticket?

If GPRS connection breaks while booking the I-ticket, IRCTCmobile will display the appropriate error message. Please select the ‘Retry’ option to try again.

54. What if the GPRS connection breaks after I have entered the card details?

If GPRS connection breaks at any point, please select the ‘Retry’ option to try again. If you exit IRCTCmobile without retrying in the following cases, the transaction will remain pending and can be completed the next time you login to IRCTCmobile. In case any money gets deducted without the booking process getting completed, the same will be refunded back.

55. What if my mobile goes off because of low battery while booking the ticket?

If your mobile goes off because of low battery in the following cases the transaction will remain pending and can be completed the next time you login to the IRCTCmobile.

56. What if I receive a call or SMS while booking the ticket?

If you receive, a call or SMS while booking the ticket IRCTCmobile will work in background and will not be affected. But if the duration of call is long the IRCTCmobile will logout automatically after sometime to ensure security.

57. While downloading, I get a message saying "Un-trusted Application". What should I do?

Please select ‘Yes’ for this option. This option is specific to the mobile device and would not affect the application or mobile phone.

58. Does IRCTCmobile have a similar appearance on all phones?

The functionality of the IRCTCmobile remains same for all the phones. The appearance although might change from phone to phone depending on the visual interface of the phone.

59. What is IRCTCmobile Lite version?

Since heap memory size and JAR size, which are important for running Java applications on mobile phones, vary from phone to phone, C-SAM has developed a IRCTCmobile version which can run on mobile phones with constraints of heap memory and JAR size. This is called IRCTCmobile Lite version.

60. What are the features available on IRCTCmobile Lite version?

IRCTCmobile Lite version has all the features except the following restrictions:

Application icon and all other images will not be displayed
Number of passengers that can be stored depends upon the memory of the device
Fast Booking icon will not be provided
Only 1 ticket will be stored IRCTCmobile

61. Will IRCTCmobile work on CDMA mobile connections like TTSL, TTML, Reliance, MTNL Garuda, BSNL WLL?

No. Presently IRCTCmobile service is available only for GSM users with appropriate GPRS connection.

62. After entering mobile number on the IRCTC website, I did not receive the SMS?

On entering the mobile number, you shall receive a service SMS (also called as WAP Push Message). This is a special SMS containing a URL link.

Please check your 'Message Inbox' or 'Service Message Inbox'. This message might be received in either of these locations depending upon your handset model. In some cases, you may need to enable the message settings to allow receipt of this service message.

63. How do I recommend this application to my friends?

On the IRCTCmobile homescreen, please select 'Refer a friend' from options. Enter you friend's mobile number, friend's name and your name and select send. Your friend will recieve a WAP SMS. Please ensure that your friend has GPRS. Your friend will not be charged anything, whereas you will incur only data cost as per your GPRS plan.

Ticket reservation page appears; check whether the train name and the station names displayed on the top of the page are same as desired by you.
Enter the names of the Passengers, age, sex and berth preference for each Passenger. The maximum length of names should be restricted to 15 characters. If the Passenger is a senior citizen (60 yrs and above) and wants to avail Senior Citizens' concession (30%), click the box provided. Senior citizens are requested to carry some proof of age during their journey. A sample form is reproduced below. (The allotment of your required berth depends on the availability)

User has to give the serial no of photo identity card of any of the passengers while booking the tickets. The passenger has to necessarily carry the same photo identity card as given during the booking along with the Electronic Reservation Slip.

The ticket details, availability of tickets at the particular time and the fare, including the service charge, appear on the screen, along with the payment option. Follow the instructions.

After successful payment and booking of accommodations, the User is shown the ticket confirmation details along with a “Print Reservation Slip” Button”. On clicking the button ERS is shown with an option to print.

The customer can subsequently also print Electronic Reservation Slip from the 'BOOKED TICKETS' link on the left navigation bar.

CANCELLATION OF e-TICKET - A GUIDE

If user wishes to cancel his e-ticket from 'BOOKED TICKETS' link on the left navigation bar, select the ticket to be cancelled and click on 'Cancel e-ticket' and can initiate the cancellation by selecting the passengers to be cancelled.

User has to enter the ID CARD number provided at the time of booking, in the field provided.
It may be noted that, if the Identity Card holder in the original ticket is required to be cancelled, all the passengers in the ticket will be automatically cancelled and a fresh reservation will have to be made, duly including the ID particulars of another passenger.

If the ticket is partially cancelled, a fresh Electronic Reservation Slip needs to be carried by the Passenger

You are requested to note down the transaction ID and PNR number displayed on this page for future reference.

Tickets will be delivered, to the shipping address that you have chosen on the reservation form.

If you are not available to collect the ticket, you may authorize any person to receive the ticket on your behalf. Person receiving the ticket should produce an authorisation letter to receive the ticket on your behalf and also, should mention the PNR Number and Transaction ID to the courier.

If, for any reason, the reservation does not materialise, the entire amount debited from your credit card account will be credited back to your card account. If you want to try for the same reservation again, it will be treated as a fresh booking.

Procedure for Cancellation of E-Tickets

e-Tickets can be cancelled on Internet at this website till Chart preparation of the train .Cancellations are not allowed at face to face Railway Counters. If the user wishes to cancel his e-Ticket, he can do so till the time of chart preparation for the train, which is normally 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the train from the train originating station. For train starting up to 12 noon the chart preparation is usually done on the previous night. He can log on to www.irctc.co.in and go to "Booked Tickets" link and select the ticket to be cancelled and can initiate the cancellation by selecting the passengers to be cancelled. However if the Identity Card holder in the original ticket is selected for cancellation, all the passengers in the ticket would have be cancelled and a fresh reservation will have to be made, duly including the ID particulars of another passenger. Cancellation would be confirmed online and the refund would be credited back to the account used for booking as for normal Internet tickets. If there is any partial cancellation of ticket, please ensure that a fresh e-reservation slip (Electronic Reservation Slip) is printed separately as done for the original ticket. Cancellation of e-Tickets before chart preparation of the train
	If a confirmed ticket is cancelled more than 24 hrs before the scheduled departure of the train, flat cancellation charges shall be deducted @ Rs.70/- for AC First Class/Executive Class, Rs.60/- for AC 2 Tier/AC 3 Tier/First Class/AC Chair car, Rs.40/- for Sleeper Class and Rs.20/- for Second Class. Cancellation charges are per passenger.
	If a confirmed ticket is cancelled within 24 hrs and upto 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, cancellation charges shall be 25% of the fare subject to the minimum flat rate mentioned in the above clause.
	Less than 4 hours before the schedule departure of the train upto chart preparation of the train, 50% of the fare paid subject to the minimum cancellation charges.
	Note the Chart preparation time is the time for the chart preparation from the Train Originating Station or from the Previous chart Preparation station.
Cancellation of e-Tickets after the preparation of Reservation charts
For any claims on e-Tickets to be cancelled after the preparation of Reservation charts, the user has to send an email at the earliest possible time (within 30 days) to etickets@irctc.co.in giving full details of the ticket and stating the claim, which would then be processed by IRCTC with the Railway administration offline and refunds as sanctioned by the Railway administration would be credited back to the user's account. Refund claims under above clause may require at least 60 days or more for processing.
For Tatkal Tickets Booked as e-Tickets
A flat refund of 25% of total fare charged on ticket, excluding Tatkal Charges is granted on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal tickets, which are cancelled up to 24 hrs. before the schedule departure of train. No refund on confirmed Tatkal tickets when cancelled within 24 hrs.of the schedule departure of train. For contingent cancellation & waitlisted Tatkal ticket cancellations, charges will be deducted as per existing Railway rules.
Cancellation of e-tickets in case of trains cancelled:
If the train is marked as "CANCELLED" in PRS due to breaches, floods, accidents etc. full refund is permissible in case the ticket is cancelled within three days of the scheduled departure of the train. In case of e-tickets, such cancellations can be done by the customer through Internet.

Procedure for Cancellation of I-Tickets

Cancellation of tickets before departure of trains
Cancellation of I-Tickets can be done at any computerised reservation counter across the country and a cancellation ticket obtained. NO CASH REFUND will be given. Service Charge is also not refundable. The refund amount will be credited to the respective credit card account electronically, the following day of cancellation. Refund of fare shall be made after deduction of cancellation charge of the fare as follows:
	If a RAC/waitlisted is cancelled then Rs. 20/- (Per Passenger) shall be deducted .
	If a confirmed ticket is cancelled more than 24 hrs before the scheduled departure of the train, flat cancellation charges shall be deducted @ Rs.70/- for AC First Class/Executive Class, Rs.60/- for AC 2 Tier/AC 3 Tier/First Class/AC Chair car, Rs.40/- for Sleeper Class and Rs.20/- for Second Class. Cancellation charges are per passenger.
	If a confirmed ticket is cancelled within 24 hrs and upto 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, cancellation charges shall be 25% of the fare subject to the minimum flat rate mentioned in the above clause.
Cancellation of tickets after departure of trains
I-Tickets can also be cancelled in the above manner,at the boarding station, within 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the train and
	Upto 3 hrs after actual departure of train for tickets upto a distance of 200kms
	Upto 6 hrs after actual departure of train for tickets upto a distance of 201-500kms.
	Upto 12 hrs after actual departure of train for tickets over a distance of 500kms.
In all the above cases, cancellation charges will be 50% of the fare subject to the minimum flat rate mentioned in the above clause.
To cancel tickets after the above period:
	Surrender the I-Ticket with the Station Master and obtain a Ticket Deposit Receipt.
	Prefer your claim for refund to the following address attaching the originalcopy of the Ticket Deposit Receipt: General Manager (Operations) Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation Ltd., 2nd Floor, STC Building, 1, Tolstoy Marg, New Delhi - 110 001.
	IRCTC will process the refund claim with the Railway Administration and refund granted by the Railway shall be credited to your credit card account
	Refund claims under above clause may require at least 60 days or more for processing.
Cancellation of I-tickets in case of trains cancelled:
I-Ticket can be cancelled upto 72 hrs after the scheduled departure of train at any computerised reservation counter.

Cancellation of Tatkal Tickets

RESERVATION RULES

Important - for Senior Citizens :- From 1st September 2001 onwards, concession to senior citizens through PRS (Passenger Reservation System) shall be granted only on demand and not by default as at present. The demand for concession shall be made on Reservation Requisition form in the case of reserved tickets. In the case of tickets issued to senior citizens on concession, during journey the concerned passengers are instructed to carry some documentary proof showing their age or date of birth, issued by any Government Institution/Agency/Local Body. like Identity card, Driving License, Passport, Educational certificate, certificate from Local Bodies like Panchayat/Corporation/Municipality, or any other authentic and recognised document. This documentary proof of age should be produced if demanded by some Railway official during the journey.

General Conditions :- The Railway Administration reserves seats, berths, compartments, or carriage in accordance with the rules and conditions published in the Coaching Tariff. A passenger seeking reservation of berth or seats should purchase tickets from the Railway Reservation Offices/Authorised Travel Agency only.

Advance reservations are made generally up to 60 days in advance for all classes and all trains. The period of advance reservation (ARP) is exclusive of the day of departure of the train.

At intermediate stations where the train arrives on the following day, such reservations can be done more than 60 days in advance of date of journey from the intermediate station. ARP is in relation to the date of journey from train originating station. In case of some Inter-city day trains, the ARP is less.

An individual can book only up to six passengers on one requisition form provided all passengers are for the same destination and for the same train.

Only one requisition form is accepted from a person at one time. However, if onward/return journey are involved, 2 or 3 forms can be accepted for the same passengers.

Accommodation will not be reserved without purchase of necessary journey ticket. No reservation of accommodation will be made on provisional basis.

When berths are reserved for passengers, the intention is to provide sleeping accommodation between 9 PM to 6 AM. During 6 AM to 9 PM, the passengers concerned, if required make room for other passengers in compartment up to its carrying capacity.

Passengers are requested to quote PNR number which is printed on each tickets on the top left hand side for any enquiry or complaint relating to reservations.

Reservation ticket issued by the computerised system against pre-bought ticket must be accompanied by the journey tickets on train. Similarly journey cum reservation tickets bearing zero amount are not valid for journey unless accompanied by the valid authority to travel authorising issue of such tickets.

Allotment of accommodation is done by the computer as per pre-defined logic. Efforts are made to provide compact accommodation to persons booked under the same PNR on first come first served basis.

The Railway Administration will endeavour to provide reserved accommodation but does not guarantee the same and will admit no claim for compensation for inconvenience, loss or extra expense due to such accommodation including carriages, not being provided or reserved carriage not been attached to a particular train. The supply of any particular type of carriage or the provision of a particular berth and seat is also not guaranteed.

Departure time printed on the ticket is indicative for the guidance of the passengers. Passengers must ascertain correct timings from the Railway station on the day of journey. Such tickets are printed up to 60 days in advance. Any changes in timing after the issue of ticket can not be advised.

While every endeavour is made to advise changes in Time Table by due publicity, Railway Administration shall not be liable for any claim/compensation if a passenger misses a train on this account.

TRANSFER/RESALE OF TICKETS PROHIBITED :- Under Section 142 of the Railways ACT, journey tickets including any half of a return ticket and season ticket are not transferable.

If any person not being a Railway Servant or an agent authorised in this behalf :

sells or attempts to sell any ticket or any half of a return ticket, or
parts or attempts to part with the possession of a ticket against which reservation of a seat or a berth has been made or any half of a return ticket or season ticket. He shall be punishable under the Railways Act.

In addition, if the purchaser or holder of transferred ticket travels or attempts to travel therewith, he shall forfeit the ticket which he so purchased or obtained and shall be deemed to be travelling without a proper ticket.

PAYMENT THROUGH CREDIT CARDS :- Payment through credit cards for issue of reserved tickets is accepted on some nominated counters of computerised locations in India. In Northern Railway these counters are at IRCA, Reservation Office, New Delhi, Delhi Jn., Sarojini Nagar, Kirti Nagar and Karkadooma and the computerised reservation office, Lucknow .

All Master Cards and Visa Cards are accepted.

RESERVATION FEE AND SUPPLEMENTARY CHARGES ON SUPERFAST TRAINS :- The reservation fee and supplementary charge on superfast train are as under :-

REVISION OF RESERVATION FEE:

The cluster stations definition is now suspended.
The system of issuing BPTs(Blank Paper Tickets) is now disabled.

1. For travel by all trains except Rajdhani,Shatabdi and Jan Shatabdi Express trains,the revised reservation fee,leviable on tickets booked for journeys originating from other then the ticket booking station is shown below.

Military Officers travelling on free warrants, officers and staff of the Railway and P&T department travelling on Railway passes and MPs travelling on Identity Card are exempted from payment of reservation fee.
The supplementary charge is not recoverable from MPs travelling on Identity Card, tourist holding Indrail passes, Railway Staff travelling on duty passes, privilege passes and PTOs.
A passenger found travelling in a Super Fast Train without paying supplementary charge is liable to pay a penalty of Rs. 50/- in addition to the supplementary charge. However, passenger holding through ticket duly fulfilling distance restriction and boarding a superfast train at an intermediate station as per the ticket, is required to pay only the supplementary charge.

INDICATION OF BERTH/SEAT NUMBERS :- Passengers with confirmed reservation will be allotted berths at the time of booking and the coach and berth numbers are indicated on the ticket itself, except in case of first class ACC and first class coaches. The compartment/cabin/coupe numbers for first ACC and first class are allotted at the time of chart preparation.

RESERVATION AGAINST CANCELLATION (R.A.C.) :- The passengers whose names figure under R.A.C., are provided reserved sitting accommodation initially and are likely to get berths becoming vacant due to last minutes cancellation of reservation of passengers not turning up in time before the departure of the train,.

WHEN RESERVATION WORK CEASES :- The requests for reservation at the reservation counters are accepted up to 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, after which, the reservation will be done at the current counters at the stations up to one hour before the scheduled departure of the train and thereafter by the Ticket Collector/Conductor on the platform, if vacant berths/seats are available.

RESERVATION FROM INTERMEDIATE STATIONS :- (a) Requisition for reservation of berths in all classes from intermediate stations not having computerised reservation facility are entertained on purchase of journey tickets only. Such requisition should be given to the Station Master of the Intermediate station 72 hours before the scheduled departure of the train from the station. Such application shall be sent to the nearest computerised reservation office at the earliest.

CANCELLATION OF RESERVATION DUE TO LATE ARRIVAL OF PASSENGER :- If a passenger, for whom a berth or seat has been reserved, does not turn up up to 10 minutes before the scheduled departure of the train, the Railway Administration may cancel the accommodation reserved for him and allot it to the passenger on the RAC list/Waiting list accordingly on priority.

CHANGE OF BOARDING POINT :- If a passenger desires to occupy reserved accommodation from any station enroute, he would be permitted to entrain at any intermediate station he chooses irrespective of the distance from the starting station subject to the following conditions :-

A specific request must be made in writing at the station from where the ticket is purchased and reservation made atleast 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train from the starting station.
The Railway Administration reserves the right to use such accommodation from the originating station up to the station at which the passenger is due to entrain.
No refund will be permissible for the portion of journey not performed by the passenger.

Revision of rules for postponement and preponement of journey appearing

( The revised rule as mentioned below will come into effect on 20.1.2006 )

a) the ticket is presented during working hours of the reservation office and at least 24 hours before the schedule departure of the train in which reservation has been made and;	(a) Confirmed Ticket:- Postponment of journey on confirmed tickets shall be allowed in the same or any higher class' by any subsequent train on the same or any subsequent day,for same or any longer destination,provided that:-
(b) accommodation is available in the train in which reservation is required.	(i) confirmed or RAC or waiting list accommodation is available in the train in which fresh reservation is required.:-
	(ii) fresh reservation fee for the class for which reservation is required is paid,in case oft tickets surrendered during working hours and at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train in which originally booked;
	(iii) 25% fare of already booked ticket is paid as cancellation charges, in case of tickets surrendered during working hours and within 24 hrs and 4 hours before schedule departure of the train in which originally booked;
	(iv) 50% fare of already booked ticket is paid as cancellation charges, in case of tickets surrendered during working hours and with in 4 hours before schedule departure and up the maximum time limits mentioned in rule 213.6(i)(c) (i.e 3/6/12 hours, depending on distance.) after actual departure of the train in which originally booked;
	(b) RAC& WAITLISTED TICKETS: Postponment of journey on RAC and waitlisted tickets shall be allowed in same or higher class, by any subsequent train on the same or any subsequent day,for same or any longer destination, provided that-
	(i) confirmed or RAC or waiting list accommadation is available in the train in which fresh reservation is required;
	(ii) ticket is surrendered during working hours and up to the maximum time limits mentioned in rule 213.6 (i) (c) ,(i.e. 3/6/12 hours depending on distance) after actual departure of the train in which originally:-
	(iii) clerkage charge is paid;
PREPONEMENT OF JOURNEY
(2) Preponement of journey on reserved, RAC or waitlisted ticket shall be allowed in the same class by any earlier train on the same day or any earlier day ,if ;	(2) Preponement of journey : Preponement of journey on confirmed, RAC & waitlisted tickets shall be allowed in the same or any higher class ,by any earlier train on the same day or any earlier day,for same or any longer destination,provided that

(a) the ticket is surrendered during the working hours of reservation office and at least 6 hrs before the scheduled departure of the train in which reservation is required and,	(a) confirmed or RAC or waiting list accommadation is avaiable in the train in which fresh reservation is required;
(b) accommodation is available in the train in which reservation is required.”	(b) ticket is surrendered during working hours of reservation office and at least 6 hrs before scheduled departure of the train in which reservation is required or before preparation of reservation chart, which ever is later;
	(c) fresh reservation fee for the class for which reservation is required is paid, in case of
	preponement on confirmed tickets and
	(d) clerkage charge is paid,in case of preponement on RAC & wait listed ticket;
Conditions for modification of journey
Explanation: In case there is a difference of fares between the class of a train on which the ticket was originally reserved and the same class of the other train on which the postponement or preponement is provided, the change of reservation shall be made subject to refund or recovery of the diffrence,as the case may be	(3) If there is difference in fares for originally booked journey and revised journey the diffrence of fare shall be refunded or recovered,as the case may subject to the provisions of rule 213.9(1)& (2) above.
(3) Postponement or Preponement of journey under sub-rule (1) or sub-rule(2) shall be allowed only once, without levying any cancellation charges but on payment of:-	(4) Postponement or Preponement of journey under the abovesub-rules shall be allowed only once.
(a) fresh reservation fee, in the case of reserved ticket, and	(5) The postponement/preponement of normal train ticket journeys will not be applicable against Tatkal Quota eve on payment of Tatkal charges.
(b) clerkage ,in the case of RAC and waitlisted ticket.
Refund on cancellations of modified ticket.
(4) If the ticket on which journey has been altered under sub-rule (1) or sub-rule (2),is cancelled, cancellation charges shall be payable as follows;-	(6) If the ticket, on which journey has been alerted under the above sub-rules ,is cancelled, cancellation charges shall be payable as fellows:-
(a) cancellation charge as may be due if the original reservation had been cancelled at the time when the postponement or preponement of reservation was allowed and.	(a) cancellation charge as would have been due if the ticket for original reservation had been cancelled at the time of postponement /preponement of journey,
(b) cancellation charges due in respect of the altered reservation as if this altered reservation is a fresh reservation.	(b) cancellation charges due in respect of ticket for alerted reservation as if this alerted reservation is fresh reservation.
	(c) in cases where 25% or 50% cancellation charges were realized at the time of modification of journey, the cancellation charges mentioned in (a) shall not be levied again and the cancellation charges mentioned in (b) only shall be levied"

EXCLUSIVE ACCOMMODATION FOR LADIES : One compartment of the lowest class of accommodation is earmarked for ladies in every passenger carrying train. Some berths/Seats in sleeper class / second seats are also earmarked for ladies at the train originating station.

Any male passenger found occupying or attempting to occupy such a carriage or compartment shall be liable to be prosecuted apart from being removed from the compartment.

Boys under 12 years of age may travel in a ladies compartment with relatives or friend
